23 Apr a gift to the industry: planet imex
planet imex
last month imex shared the devastating news that their frankfurt show would be cancelled this year, due to concerns and restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. following an abundance of positive messages across social media, the team gathered to discuss possible online solutions and shared this week that planet imex will launch on wednesday, 6 may 2020!
imex is an industry leading exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events and considered the heartbeat of the global business events community. their two tradeshows have been running annually for almost two decades in frankfurt and las vegas.
ceo carina bauer took part in an intimate industry discussion with micebook this week, where she shared some of the exciting details we can expect from the new platform. she explained that there is a lot of fantastic educational content from the show that can be shared online, however they are conscious that a great deal of value comes from participants developing connections and signing business deals, so the site needed to allow for this.
launching at the start of may, planet imex will provide users with a unique online experience as they journey between three islands: a beach-themed community island; a forest-inspired education island and a networking island characterised by canyons, mountains and valleys. using a mixture of gamification, live streams and interactive discussion, the site aims to provide joyful moments and will be developed overtime to provide longevity.
carina stressed that this is an “experiment” and that they are treading in uncharted waters, however they are feeling positive and excited to be working towards a new goal. the platform will be funded by imex and offered as a gift to the industry and so there are no costs to buyers or suppliers. if you’d like to register as a buyer, look out for an email from the imex team from tuesday, 28 april 2020 – there’s no doubt that the seven events team will be involved!
