Abu Dhabi Fam Trip – Part 2 (The Desert)
After a fabulous time in the city (See Part 1-the city) we then took a private transfer out to the desert.
On arrival I was spellbound by the beautiful, 5 star luxury resort of Qsar Al Sarab which is located in an empty quarter of the Lewi Dessert, the largest uninterrupted sand desert in the world. A fantastic property with an offering of 4 restaurants to dine from, 17 plus activities on site from tennis lessons to dessert drives, a luxurious spa and an outdoor pool with a swim up bar.
Moreover I found the bedrooms to be luxurious with sumptuous soft furnishings, all mod cons and an authentic yet contemporary Arabian interior and garden terrace with an impressive view.
That evening, dinner was held in amongst the dunes at Al Falaj. An authentic BBQ buffet restaurant which had been set up like an Arabian open air camp, with canvas structures, rugs, sofas and large cushions and blankets. To add to the experience there is local musicians playing and a chance to meet a camel. Overall it was absolute treat to dine under the star covered night!
The following day it was then time for some thrill seeking activities of Dune Bashing. Everyone was collected by 4 x 4 and taken out to the desert where we hit the dunes at speed, careering over the top of them and sliding the other side. The best kind of roller coaster!
After this it was then time to for something a little more relaxing with a 30min camel ride which is a novel and fun way to experience the desert.
To finish off our time at Qsar Al Sarab we had dinner at Suhail restaurant, a fine dining offering with a lovely terrace which was the perfect spot for sundowners.
