07 Dec barcelona is back!
this week our project manager, nicola was kindly invited to attend a 48-hour fam trip, to rediscover barcelona as a mice destination and what a weekend it was! spain has relaxed covid travel restrictions in place, so currently all you need to show is proof of vaccination plus complete their locator form.
there are venues to host all types of events, from intimate board meetings right through to expo’s with thousands of attendees. here are some of her highlights of the trip:
hotel claris
part of the derby collection, the 5-star hotel claris is a unique hotel perfect for incentive groups and meetings. located within the vedruna palace, a historic building from the late 19th century, the hotel has a total of 124 bedrooms and impressive suites. there’s a strong connection between the hotel and art, with various historical pieces exhibited both in the public spaces and in the bedrooms.
segway tour
the second day of the visit was kicked off with an exciting segway tour of the city, a great activity for groups of up to 50 pax. you’ll start off with a briefing from the instructors before being split into teams of 5 – 6 pax. you’ll kit up and head straight out after a short demonstration. this was a great way to cover a lot of ground in just a couple of hours and can end in a different location to where you start.
dining in virens
on our final night, we visited the hotel almanac, a 5-star boutique property located in the eixample neighbourhood. they are home to virens, a high-end restaurant run by chef rodrigo de la calle. his menu is focused on healthy, plant powered dishes which really wow guests. this restaurant is perfect for intimate private dining or exclusive hire which a bespoke menu.
