We were lucky enough to be invited along to the Rocco Forte Winter meetings and Event showcase in Berlin this month!
After a lovely champagne breakfast at Heathrow airport we boarded the plane for the very short flight time of less than 2 hours to Berlin! Upon arriving we were picked up and transported to the hotel which was only a short 20-minute journey. Rocco Forte hotels pride themselves on their hotel locations and the Hotel De Rome did not disappoint! Located on the historic Bebleplatz it was once the headquarters of the esteemed 19th century Dresden bank and oozed elegance and charm.
All 108 bedrooms were very stylish and spacious and showcased featured accents that compliment the hotels banking heritage. During the site visit we were able to see a couple of the exquisite suites available. Each suite has a different theme and offers a different style for guests.
With Berlin being famous for the 20s it was only fitting that the gala dinner that night was to be themed around that. Flapper girls welcomed everyone into the drinks reception where we enjoyed champagne and canapes. The Gala dinner was packed full of great performances, speeches, networking and most importantly amazing food! The perfect way to kick start this trip in Berlin.
On Saturday we had 1-1 meetings with a hotel representative from each of Rocco Fortes hotels which allowed us to really understand each property’s best features! This was followed by a thinktank session, where we asked to discuss how the brand could improve – this was refreshing to take part in!
The afternoon saw us heading out the hotel to do a bit of sightseeing around the City! Berlin is steeped in history, with incredible landmarks to see.
After a quick freshen up back at the hotel it was time to head out again. Berlin is famous for its street art, so what better way is there to showcase berlin than with a street art experience. We arrived at the venue and were given body suits, gloves and masks and then had a short introduction on how to use spray paint and off we went! It is a lot harder than it looks and we were given stencils as well to help.
Dinner that evening was offsite at Sage Restaurant which was located on the banks of the River Spree. This is a metropolitan, artfully designed restaurant with a sunny terrace and a long beach area perfect for the summer months!
