28 Nov Budapest The New City of Lights
Paris has long been known as the city of lights, with the sparkling Eiffel tower creating a beacon across the city. However Budapest, easterners Europe’s new hot destination, definitely gives Paris a run for its money with the city coming alive at night with monuments illuminated along the river Danube. From the sparkling chain bridge and Parliament on the Pest side and the castle town and fisherman’s bastions on the Buda bank of the city, the glowing gold buildings create a dramatic and magical back drop for events. Visiting last week with a client, we were spoilt for choice with a wealth of amazing dinner venues that all have a unique and show stopping angle across the city. From the traditional Halaszbastya, a restaurant set in a fairy tale castle tower with panoramic view across the city, to the Spoon a modern restaurant set on boat in the heart of the pest side with views across the river to the spectacular glowing castle town. Then after dinner the illuminations continue with the ruin bars, a strip of colourful and quirky bistro bars, brought alive with fairy lights and lanterns to create a quirk and edgy scene amongst the more traditional city centre surroundings. Budapest is the perfect choice for our client’s event and we know whatever restaurant we pick the guests will be wowed by this magical and captivating city of lights.
