08 Jul Cancun FAM Trip
last week we had the pleasure of being invited by hosmark hotels and all about flights on a fam trip to cancun, mexico for 5 days.
all about flights very kindly organised the flights for the trip and they generously upgraded us both ways. flying with british airways we were able to experience both premium economy and business class seats. both products offered a great service and would be a great addition to any event to make your guests feel comfortable. flying business class on the way back was a great experience and with it being a night flight it meant we got a bit of rest ready to get on with our day when we landed.
on arrival we were picked up by edge dmc who are the inhouse dmc for palace resorts. we stayed at the grand moon palace for the duration of the trip and it was conveniently located only a 15 minute drive from the airport. this hotel really did offer everything from 11 restaurants, tropical beach club, water park to the inside bowling alley. there were plenty of swimming pools to relax by including an adults only pool club. on the first night we had dinner in la cantina the traditional mexican restaurant in the hotel which served great margaritas! after trying every dish on the menu, we all retired to our rooms to get some sleep. the rooms at moon palace grand come with everything you need, including an all inclusive bar and a jacuzzi tub. the rooms are a very generous size, offering plenty of space, a big bathroom and patio or balcony to relax on.
on day two we had breakfast with staff from the hotel, their in-house production company and in house dmc. palace resorts can offer everything you need in house to build the perfect event. after learning more about each company we headed out to do a full site visit of the hotel before heading out with edge dmc on a speedboat jungle tour. this was definitely a highlight of the trip with everyone pairing and getting their own boat. we headed out through the jungle before getting to open water where we went snorkeling. with all that adventure we built up a healthy appetite, and headed back to the hotel to have lunch at habibi. habibi is a middle eastern restaurant, offering a taste of lebanese cuisine. it was a firm favourite within the group! after a couple of hours to freshen up and put our glad rags on we headed to le blanc spa resort, the most luxury cancun property palace resorts offers. after a full site visit of the hotel we were treated to french fine dining experience in lumiere.
day 3 saw all of us getting up early to head out on a bird watching tour with the palace foundation. the resort is home to a wide range of bird species, and it was fascinating to lean more about what lives around the resort. during the tour we even, spotted a couple of crocodiles! after breakfast we headed out on a site visit of moon palace which is the resort next to the grand. this part of the resort offered a vast amount of meeting spaces with a full arena and exhibition centre. we enjoyed a lovely cocktail in the golf club house while admiring the views. the afternoon consisted of us enjoying the pool club with a pina colada or two. in the evening we headed to another palace hotel called sun palace which was on the beach front and every room offered a stunning sea view. we then enjoyed dinner outside at fuego, offering a delicious latin american menu.
our final full day was upon us after a leisurely breakfast we headed off to playa car palace in playa del carmen. this was a lovely resort and one of the smaller properties in the company. from here we headed to cenote to take part in an extreme canopy tour activity. we made our way round 10 exhilarating zip lines, before riding in an old army truck to a remote swim stop. once back at the hotel we got ready to go for dinner at jade. jade is the hotels asian restaurant offering a menu using the ancient charcoal robata technique.
we woke up on sunday not quite believing that our time in cancun was nearly over. to finish the trip of we were treated to a morning in the spa where we all experienced a holistic massage. the awe spa offers a range of treatments, a juice bar and a hydrotherapy experience.
it was a trip we will never forget and look forward to telling all our clients about it. a massive thank you to hosmark and all about flights for their generous hospitality.
