23 Feb Chips Ahoy
Here at Seven Events Events we bet you didn’t know that you would need the entire area of Wembley Football Stadium to grow all the chips required for Britain each year. According to consumer data company Kantar Worldpanel, chips are part of nearly 3 million UK meals every year, so whether it fish and chips, burger and chips or just a big old plate of chips you love; join the rest of Britain in celebrating this fabulous potato offspring…even if you are a week late!
In honour of National Chip Week last week we have pulled together some our top London haunts where you can indulge on the best chips:
The Fish & Chip Shop (City and Islington)
Whether you’re sitting in or going out – the crispy chips here are great bang for your buck. For £2 you’ll get a huge box to take away, but be sure to order a few helpings of the spicy tartar sauce for dipping. It’s the ultimate
Hawksmoor
You have the glorious choice of beef dripping fries or triple-cooked chips. Our advice? Go with a friend, order both and have a taste-off. For me the triple-cooked chips have the edge with a super-fluffy inside and perfectly crisp outside. Yum.
Honest Burgers (Various branches)
These guys make the best chips. They’re perfect. The rosemary seasoning is ridiculously good and the chips are all golden and crispy. I could eat three plates right now
Poppies (Spitalfields)
They have won awards for being the best fish and chip restaurant in the UK, so in other words you’re guaranteed a solid, traditionally-British chip experience
Tommi’s Burger Joint (Chelsea and Marylebone)
The perfect thin-cut chip, if that’s what you’re into. What’s more, the Chelsea branch has the biggest selection of dips and accompaniments we’ve seen in a restaurant. What’s a chip without a dip?
