22 Jan Dine Amongst Our History
This week we got tasked with the challenge to find a venue dripping in history for a drinks reception for up to 220 people. When searching for a venue for your event, it can be tempting to choose something new and modern to reflect the modernity of your business. However, sometimes it can be better to consider a more historic venue when looking for the perfect setting to host your event.
The Postal Museum, Mail Rail Room – (275 standing)
Mail Rail venue is an impressive and spectacular underground venue with a bold industrial character that has maintained its original features including exposed brickwork, vaulted ceilings, archways and authentic railway tracks.
London Transport Museum, Museum Galleries – (500 standing)
Located just off Covent Garden Piazza, London Transport Museum’s Galleries provide the perfect backdrop for any evening event from award ceremonies to product launches to panel discussions. Guests enter through the World City Walkway and are then immersed into two floors of London’s transport history including the first Metropolitan Line carriage and the latest in transport technology. In the newly launched Future Engineers gallery guests can put their driver skills to the test.
The Science Museum, Making the modern world – (750 standing)
The ‘Making the Modern World’ room displays an exceptional collection which follows the cultural history of industrialisation form 1750 to the current day; it presents some of the museum’s most remarkable objects. Perfect for large-scale events of up to 270 for a drinks reception. Making the Modern World is a breath-taking gallery chronicling the inventions that formed modern society.
Churchill war rooms – (250 standing)
Each room has been preserved and restored to look just as it did during the Second World War. Walk the same corridors as Churchill, peer into the room where his War Cabinet made their momentous decisions, and marvel at the complexity of the abandoned Map Rooms, frozen in time since 1945. The whole venue can take up to 250 guests. Sitting underground and adjacent to the award-winning Churchill Museum, this area offers all the versatility and facilities of a modern meeting space, with the added excitement of its period feel, it’s historic resonances and high-tech audio-visual facilities – underneath twelve feet of concrete and steel!
