Let’s face it, we all love a bit of a tipple in the summer months – sat outside in a garden soaking up the summer sun.
So if you’re sick of your normal choice or thing that it’s time for a change from over indulging in Pimms or Sangria then look no further for some inspired ideas around the capital…
Ease away those troubles – The Painkiller
This drink was inspired by the lethal (54.5% alcohol by volume) Pusser’s Rum, which was drunk by the British Navy in the days of daily tots. It originated in the British Virgin Islands and features pineapple juice, cream of coconut, orange juice, fresh nutmeg and fruit.

For Gin lovers everywhere – The T10 Spritz
Mayfair restaurant Quaglino’s is transforming into a floral spectacle this summer with the arrival of the Giovanni Gin Garden. The venue has teamed up with gin brand Tanqueray to curate the space and craft the pop-up’s cocktail menu.
The T10 Spritz is made with prosecco, elderflower cordial, soda, lemon bitters and the hero ingredient Tanqueary’s No. Ten, which is distilled using whole citrus fruit such as grapefruit, oranges and limes. Quaglino’s also offers guests the chance to create their own cocktails in the garden with the help of expert bartenders.
Go Stateside – Breakfast in Manhatten
Breakfast in Manhattan is a British Martini with a downtown NYC edge, which caterer Food by Dish introduced onto its menu in time for the summer. The vermouth and orange bitters provide the drink’s backbone, while dissolved English marmalade in bourbon whiskey adds a sweeter note.
The interactive cocktail – Flavour Trip
Bubble Food showcased their sweet and sour Flavour Trip creation which is a drink is presented with a miniature envelope containing a Miracle Berry pill that turns the sour flavour sweet when taken. Plymouth gin, Luxardo maraschino, Crème de Violette and a lemon sherbet rim make up the rest of the cocktail.
And finally for the retro crowd – Purple Rain
From the 28th July, south west London institutes Bluebird Chelsea and Maggie’s Club will join forces to host a 1980s pop-up on the infamous King’s Road. The bar team will be serving up a variety of Ciroc vodka-based cocktails, as well as the irresistibly-named Purple Rain.
The drink features gin, elderflower, blackberries, apple juice and lime juice, and is topped with a splash of Moet et Chandon Brut Impérial NV. For those really looking to head back to the decade of shoulder pads and Tory takeover, Piña Coladas and Babycham will also be available.
