07 Nov A Gingerbread City
It’s the beginning of November and here starts the countdown to Christmas, even if you aren’t ready for it! There is plenty to see and do in London that is Christmas related but one thing has really stood out to us this year.
A festive gingerbread city is being built at Somerset House. The theme for this year’s city is ‘transport’. The theme should show an imaginative way of exploring new ways of moving around densely populated cities. There will be over 100 architects using their imagination and baking skills to create something truly spectacular.
With over 100 architects, engineers and designers expected to use their expertise (and baking genius) to create a city that explores imaginative new ways of moving around our densely populated cities – all made entirely from gingerbread! You can expect to see sugary models of the Battersea Power Station, the Tate Modern, and Somerset House itself, with dozens more to come.
Somerset House will be running Gingerbread House making workshops through the exhibition!
The exhibition will be running from the 7th Decemeber till 5th January
