during this time, there has been a rise of people baking & creating yummy treats! but a lot of us don’t know the fantastic effects that baking has. it has been proven that baking works to alleviate anxiety in so many ways!
any activity that you do with your hands has a calming effect and because of the constant motions of baking it helps you to disconnect from your worries. it’s also a mindful activity because it completely absorbs your focus and keeps you rooted in the present moment; you could also say that baking can act as a type of meditation & can achieve mindful activities.
there is also the big reason why we have all invest more time in baking and that is due to the creativity and the opportunity to play around and exercise your imagination!
here are a few simple baking recipes for you to get stuck into during these time
chocolate brownies
200g caster sugar
115g melted butter
30g cocoa powder
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
115g plain flour
pinch salt
- heat oven to 180c
- mix the ingredients in the order above
- pour mixture into a greased tin
- cook for 10-15 minutes
- allow to cool in tin before slicing & serving
cookies
115g softened butter
55g caster sugar
140g plain flour
40g chocolate chips
- heat oven to 180c
- beat the butter and sugar till fluffy
- mix in the flour and chocolate chips with your hand until you have a dough
- roll the dough into walnut sized ball and flatten with your palm
- put them onto a baking tray slightly apart and cook for 10-12 minutes
