Hutong

Hutong

I was lucky enough to get invited to dinner by the amazing Mags, for Mags Worldwide on Monday. Having heard a lot about Hutong but never quite finding the time to visit for dinner I jumped on the chance of attending – and I was not disappointed! The food, the view and company were fantastic. I must visit in my books.

Situated on level 33, Hutong serves the fascinating and diverse cuisines of Northern China and is based on the much-loved restaurant of the same name in Hong Kong.

Hutong’s cuisine takes its inspiration from the dishes served in the imperial palaces of what was then Peking. Based on the “Lu school” cuisine of Shandong Province, the menu artfully captures the subtlety and surprises of Northern Chinese cooking. I could not stop eating…the food is that of dreams. A personal favourite and one I recommend you try is the ‘Crispy soft-shell crab with Sichuan dried chilli’

Their private dining rooms have the best views and offer an atmosphere matching that of the restaurant itself by just using movable partitions giving it a true Asian feel.
