15 May London Wine Week – Our Hot picks
Don’t panic! London Wine Week is almost upon us, here in the Seven Events office we love the odd tipple of the good stuff. You can join the fun Monday May 18 to Sunday May 28 and see the city transformed into a vino-lover’s paradise. For £10, you can buy a London Wine Week wristband that will get you discounts all over town as well as a free London bar guide to help you plan your week.
What are the highlights of London Wine Week 2015? Well, first you have to pick up your wristband from the Nyetimber Hub at Devonshire Square – which will get you a free sample of their award-winning English sparkling wine. If you like, that, you can catch a flight for £5, and if you really like that, there’s a daily masterclass tasting of the current vintages for just £15 a ticket, Or what about a picnic-style tasting with wine maestro Oz Clarke, on Tuesday May 19?
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there are free (free!) sparkling wine and champagne tastings in Clerkenwell on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Kick off the weekend with an evening of wine stories and tastings at Waterstones on Oxford Street, and find out why different grape varieties are like rugby players, ballerinas and goddesses – free, but book ahead as there are only 25 slots.
Afterwards, head to Hackney for a free game of boules accompanied by Regal Rogue aperitifs. You can book a slot or just turn up – games are every 15 minutes from 7pm to 11pm.
Then make the most of your bank holiday Sunday with the BIG BOTTLES TASTE BETTER closing party at Mission, where a mind-blowing selection of unique and rare wines will be served exclusively from magnums. Unwind on a lazy Sunday afternoon with a delicious barbecue and stellar DJs. £25, from 4pm
