Magical Montenegro

Magical Montenegro

Not even 300km from tip to toe, mini Montenegro is jam-packed with picture-perfect beaches, majestic mountains, four fjords like bays, medieval villages and the world-famous serpentine road.

Rising in popularity in recent years, Montenegro has been officially put on the travel map and is a new “IT” destination. While still relatively undiscovered by most, Montenegro is a winner for incentive guests, taking clients somewhere they have never been before and somewhere they can enjoy so many different experiences.

The destination for our client’s annual incentive holiday this October, the guests enjoyed an action-packed 3-day program, staying in the picturesque town of Perast at the newly opened Iberostar property. Picked up in golf buggies and driven along the coastline before being greeted by a glass of bubbles at check-in, the guests were wowed from the word go! The hotel was the perfect base for the group, combining a waterfront location with all the leisure facilities crucial to an incentive, with a beachfront, two pools and spa facilities.

Throughout the weekend the guests saw all the best of what Montenegro has to offer with a quad bike tour in the mountains of the national park, followed by traditional local mountain lunch in front of a roaring fire. Then to get the pulses raising they zip wired across a mountain verge from the serpentine road overlooking the bay of Kotor below and all timed perfectly for seeing the spectacular sunset.

Restaurants made the most of the stunning setting, with dining areas picked for their views. The first night guests enjoyed a Mediterranean menu with a focus on fresh fish in restaurant Galion in Kotor, looking out over the bay and across to the illuminated old town walls beyond. Then for the final night dinner guests were amazed by restaurant Vergie, perched on a cliff with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Port of Montenegro across the bay below and famed for delicious cocktails and a fine dining level of service.

As a highlight for the final day of the trip, guests were picked up by speedboat straight from the hotel and treated to an adrenaline-fuelled tour around the bays, of Kotor, Perast and Budva. Stopping to visit a world war two submarine tunnel and to marvel at our “Lady of the Rocks” a man-made island and church made from a bed of sunken ships and rocks following a religious vision from local fisherman.

Then if that wasn’t enough the trip concluded with a cross country transfer into Dubrovnik, Croatia for lunch on the beach followed by free time to explore the old town and then sundowners on the beach before heading back to the airport for the flight home. Two countries in one weekend, a first for most and the icing on ultimate jet setter incentive weekend!
