16 Mar The Magna Science Centre
Here at Seven Events Events, we’ve been organising a fair few events in the North of England recently and last week we went up to Sheffield for some site visits, and found a venue unlike any other we’ve used before. A hands-on experience, packed with interactive exhibits and fascinating displays, the Magna Science Centre is a place to explore the wonders of Science and Technology in its four pavilions. Previously a former steelwork until 1993, Magna Science Centre has been converted into an attraction in 2001 based on science and its four elements, earth, air, fire and water. The interactive pavilions along with their steel heritage which produced shells, tanks and wheels for WW11 are left with a number of original features, including hulking hooks and cranes and winding passages have been left untouched, giving the building a greater sense of atmosphere.
The best part of this centre for event professionals is the large number of rooms and empty spaces that can be hired out for events. From the smaller conference rooms that can hold as little as 40 people to the Big Hall, an impressive room which can hold up to 3500 standing, there really is a space for any sized event. The Red Hall is set against a bank of vibrant red lights, then there is Fuel, the striking glass fronted terrace area. From here there is the Face of Steel, a multi-storey, multi-media and multi-purpose space, a monumental setting which will immerse guests in the heritage of the awesome former steelworks.
If the centre is hired out exclusively, the attractions can be tied in with an event creating an amazing breakout space, giving your guests an entirely unique experience adding a twist to their day. Within the exhibits, there is even a bungee jump platform in the middle of the venue – why not add that into the event agenda?! We will definitely be going back to Sheffield soon.
