Malta

Malta is a small island in the Mediterranean measuring in at only 121 square miles with a population of 425,384. The capital city is Valletta, a beautiful city with spectacular architecture and views. There are countless attractions in Valletta such as the upper Barrakka gardens where cannons are fired to mark the time of day, countless churches to explore such as st johns cathedral and wandering through the limestone and cobbled streets, filled with boutiques, restaurants and bars to keep you entertained.

Another hot spot in Malta is the small coastal town of St Julian which offers great nightlife and picturesque bays. Why not visit Spinola bay, a quaint area by the water, filled with sun, bars and restaurants and watch the world go by. There is also Portomaso marina filled with luxury boats and yachts, perfect for a stroll in the sun.

Mdina, also known as the ‘silent city’ really is the crown jewel of malta and gained its nickname due to its strict vehicle restrictions. Sat at the top of a hill, this fortified city feels like you have stepped back in time. There is a lot to do here, from St Pauls Cathedral, the cathedral museum, knight of Malta experience and the renowned Fontanella’s where you can enjoy mouthwatering desserts overlooking Malta. However, in recent years there has been another reason to visit this city, as it is where some scenes in the iconic programme Game of Thrones were filmed.

Lastly Gozo an island of the Maltese archipelago is more rural and scenic and really is a must-visit. Accessible by boat or ferry from Malta, Gozo is often referred to as ‘what Malta was once like’ due to its laid back, slower, and quieter pace. This magical island has clear waters, historical attractions and some of the best food.
