20 Mar Oh Hey HK
Hong Kong is an exciting and diverse city, with an iconic sky line, world class cuisine and a colourful, traditional culture. A modern metropole that embraces technological advances while preserving the age old charm of this unique city, known as the people’s republic of China. Growing in popularity over the last decade, Hong Kong is becoming an emerging destination for meetings and incentive travel, offering delegates the perfect mix of a fast paced city with close by island retreats.
Lucky enough to visit as a guest of the Hong Kong Tourist Authority and the Langham Hong Kong, I enjoyed an action packed few days experiencing this inspiring destination. The varied program took us from old to new, first taking in the markets streets, where traditional Chinese medicine products are on sale in the jam packed streets of colourful shops filled with exotic dried sea food and animals. Then onto the market stalls, selling precious stones, ivory and Buddha’s in every known pose. Leading onto the Man Mo Temple where lanterns, candles and incense make for mystical atmosphere. Then finally a traditional tea experience where we learned the importance of savouring and experiencing every mouthful and picking the correct tea to create inner balance.
For the new, we sipped cocktails at Aqua bar, with perfect views of the colourful lit up city by night. We enjoyed the ultimate VIP experience with a helicopter ride from the Peninsula hotel, providing a magical view point down across the vast city, beaches, bridges and islands beyond. Then shopping on Sneaker Street where sports brands sit side by side, selling the newest offering from all the top brands, alongside street food traders and cosmetic shops piled high with weird and wonderful beauty treatments.
We also experienced a mix of hotel products from the Langham Hong Kong, where first class service and traditional style make for a haven in the harbour district. Then the ultra-modern Cordis hotel, located in the business district, with roof top pool and Michelin style restaurant serving a Western, Chinese fusion menu and also with a backyard concept where craft beers and cocktails can be enjoyed in a relaxing and laid back atmosphere. With so much diversity, Hong Kong provides so many options to create the perfect program for any group, mixing the old with new to create memorable meeting and incentive programs.
