03 Feb The Sky Garden in the Walkie Talkie Has Opened…
The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street spans three floors and offers uninterrupted views across the City of London. Served by two express lifts, visitors arrive to a beautiful landscaped garden with a viewing area, terrace, café, bar and restaurant. The Sky Garden is a truly unique space and has been designed to create an open and vibrant place of leisure, offering visitors a rare chance to experience London from a different viewpoint.
With so many high rise venues / restaurants on offer now (the Heron Tower with Sushisamba, Duck & Waffle, The Shard with Aqua Shard, Oblix, Ting and Tower 42 with City Social) how does the Sky Garden compare?
What is it? A café by day and a cocktail bar by night.
To eat? Soups, paninis (available to take away) and charcuterie boards.
Worth knowing: There’ll be a ‘seasonally changing bar’ with cashmere blankets in winter and deck chairs in summer. There are stunning views of the Thames too.
What is it? An all-day brasserie
To eat? Think prawn cocktail with Bloody Mary dressing, beetroot-cured smoked salmon, fish and chips and their signature venison pie.
Worth knowing: Open for breakfast.
Fenchurch Seafood Bar & Grill
What is it? A fine-dining seafood restaurant at the very top of the building.
To eat? Think Oscietra caviar, Duchy native oysters, glazed pork cheek with butternut squash purée, lamb cutlets and 10oz fillet on the bone.
Worth knowing: Impressive 180 degree west-facing views and there’s an indoor cocktail terrace overlooking the Sky Pod below
As you can see Sky Garden has an array of restaurants – but that’s not it. It also has some fantastic event space; The City Garden, a beautiful event space set in the heart of the impressive gardens, offering exceptional views. The City Garden can cater for up to 250 people for a standing reception and 150 for a seated dinner.
