At the beginning of this week we were fortunate to attend the Iberian MICE Forum hosted in the Melia Villaitana near to Alicante. This is very much a resort hotel with both 4 and 5 star accommodation, so there really is something that will appeal to everyone dependent upon the group.
What’s great about this area of Spain is that they have approximately 300 days of sunshine in a year, so even in February the weather was a beautiful 18 degrees which for UK groups out of peak season is a huge plus.
Over the 2 day workshop we had a packed schedule with 30 appointments with Spanish hotels, venues and suppliers. Our knowledge of the area is pretty extensive, however it’s always good to meet with new people and hear about updates on the properties that we’re familiar with. So that we could see a little of the area the 98 buyers and suppliers were taken out for the afternoon to partake in various activities. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the local winery, Bodega Enrique Mendoza, and not only see the process of the wine being made but also to taste a few of the varieties.
It was great to see some familiar faces as well as new ones and ensure that our finger is on the pulse here at Seven Events regarding what Spain has to offer as a destination.
