The island of Hvar

The island of Hvar

The island of Hvar

Situated in the middle of the Pakleni islands off the mainland of Croatia lies the island of Hvar, the sunniest spot in the country, and arguably Europe!  Most hotels say that if you have more than 2 days of rain in a row, they’ll give you a week’s free holiday the following year!

Last weekend I spent two days there, exploring the island, the hotels, bars, restaurants and all the activities you could possibly want to do whilst over there, it was a jam packed 2 days to say the least!  Starting with a VW beetle safari over the mountains, offering panoramic views of the island, it was a great way to see a lot in a relatively short space of time.  With a stop at a fortress followed by an abandoned village growing lavender, both on the way to an olive farm in the mountains for a BBQ lunch, the views were breath-taking and it was a morning not to forget.

The next day consisted of a speedboat ride over to one of the Pakleni islands, to a beach club, taking advantage of the sunshine and sea, with a couple of cocktails watching the sun go down later on, before heading to another one of the islands for dinner.

It was a short but sweet trip, so will definitely be going again!
