21 Apr The Lure of a Good Restaurant
When you work in events we are sometimes spoilt by the places we get to go and experience and this week was no different.
On Thursday evening we got to sample the most amazing cuisine at Nobu on Old Park Lane. I have to say, I’m not easily impressed, but it was seriously some of the best food I’ve tasted in a long time.
The eponymous Nobu London was the first European venture for the celebrated Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Opened in conjunction with partners Robert De Niro, restaurateur Drew Nieporent, and hotel owner Christina Ong, the restaurant occupies the first floor of The Metropolitan Hotel on Park Lane.
The menu at Nobu London, draws heavily on Matsuhisa’s classic Japanese training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, as well as on South American influences gained during his extensive travels. This innovative “new style” Japanese cuisine has become both his trademark and the foundation of his success.
Our taste buds were definitely tickled and we just didn’t know what to sample first. From the Hot Tuna Miso Chips, to the crispy rice, to the Black Cod and Wagu beef we were well and truly spoilt!
Sometimes we all think that somewhere so well-known and with its reputation could be a little pretentious however Nobu couldn’t be further from that thought. Simple and understated with all the emphasis on the amazing food they serve, is really what Nobu is all about.
