Weekend of Wonders
We were lucky enough to be invited to Celtic Manor for a FAM trip with a difference! Coined a weekend of wonders, the experience didn’t disappoint. Arriving to a signature cocktail and a lunch in the Rib at the new Coldra court hotel, we were greeted with a 3 metre table set up with a feast of indulgent starters; scotch eggs, pork crackling, salmon and goats cheese bruschetta’s to name but a few. Moving on to main we were able taste all of the restaurants signature dishes and then for dessert smoky popcorn and doughnuts were made to order.
With full bellies it was on to an afternoon of activities, first was welsh cake making. Along with the hotels head pastry chef we designed our own welsh cake flavourings, then dressed in our chef hats and personalised aprons, we created a batch of Welsh cakes that were wrapped up and labelled to take home. Then it was time for a tea break in the library where we enjoyed hot toddies with Welsh whiskey and hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream. The warming drinks were very much welcomed as next we headed outside for some gun dog training in the finest wet Welsh weather. Spirits not dampened, we raced the gun dogs around the muddy course stifling giggles at the sausage on a stick that we tried to keep from the dog before passing the baton onto a team member.
After a jam packed afternoon we checked into our rooms for some chill time before dinner. A knock at the door brought some champagne and nibbles, setting the scene for an indulgent evening that kicked off with cocktails in the library. Dinner was a lavish four course menu, a true taste of Wales with the best cuisine from across country. The party then carried on late into the night with drinks flowing and the DJ getting everyone up dancing.
What a wonderful showcase of Welsh hospitality and a brilliant way to experience all the resort has to offer for events. And to top it all off, our valet parked car was returned with a fresh wash and wax… now that really is service!
