Seven Events are contracted to event manage Capco’s 2016 event schedule. After a successful summer party it was full steam ahead to produce their Offsite event. The Capco UK Offsite mixes business with fun activities leading to a night-time party with approximately 600 – 700 attendees. Capco is split into ‘families’ similar to houses in school in order to establish smaller communities as the company grows. The day time includes lunch, a main plenary, ‘family’ workshops and coffee breaks. The evening is jam packed full of music and entertainment. Our challenge was to find a venue which has a large main space to fit all attendees and numerous breakouts to accommodate the workshops, plus sufficient catering space and exhibition space if needed. Seven Events were also enlisted to inspire Capco with a theme which could run throughout the Offsite for theming and production as well as workshops and entertainment.
There was little competition when choosing The Brewery for this event, with its 1000 reception capacity ‘Porter Tun’ and 6 + large breakouts, it was a winner. Our suggested idea of an Urban theme throughout the event also meant that The Brewery’s exposed brickwork décor couldn’t have been more suitable. Once the venue had been decided it was time for Seven Events to put their creative minds together to visualise how we would create an urban space for the main plenary and schedule of how the day should run. Guests were greeted by our staff who were ‘family representatives’ for the day and once registered were welcomed with a hot and cold buffet lunch. It was then through to the Porter Tun for the main meeting. To create a memorable and inspirational plenary session we enlisted the help of guest speaker Ellis Watson who provided the guests with a superb talk on success and passion in the Capco culture. This incorporated the element of ensuring everyone could take something away from the plenary that provided personal development for each individual. With bespoke branding created by our in house designer uniquely for this event, we created a bespoke set which was the main backdrop throughout both the daytime and evening events. Furthermore the branding was continued throughout many aspects of the day including badging, PowerPoints, noticeboards, stairs, registration among others. This ensured a creative link between all elements of the day bringing the event together as a whole. After whittling down a wide variety of workshops and entertainment ideas, all based around the urban theme, Junk Funk and Graffiti were chosen as the afternoons family activities. Each of the Graffiti workshops incorporated a 12ft by 6ft cube allowing groups of 100 at a time to create their ‘family’ masterpiece which were to be judged and then the winner exhibited in the main space during the evening’s party. Junk Funk proved a real hit with each group. With a ‘Stomp’ feel to it, and urban orchestra was formed before the groups eyes by using all manner of bins, buckets and utensils. Moving the 6 groups from activity to activity was something that we ensured ran smoothly. Each event manager assigned to a ‘family’ took charge of moving the group from room to room quickly making sure that the next activity started promptly. Whilst the workshops took place it was all hands on deck to turn the main plenary room into a party venue. The set was kept as a focal point and lighting and furniture added to bring to space to life. The business focused afternoon finished with a prosecco reception before being invited to wrap up the day and start the party with Chinese and Indian food stations as well as a wide selection of bowl food including cheeseburger sliders and patatas bravas. The evenings entertainment kicked off with a performance from SBX Street Skills which was then followed by our band for the evening, Festival Sons, who picked up the pace of the night. After the band, the party continued with a selection of Capco’s own budding DJ’s taking to the floor ensuring the music kept guests dancing all evening and ended the night on a massive high for all.
