Capco Summer

Brief

Capco wanted a large venue they could make their own for a summer party. The venue needed to be flexible, fun but functional.

Solution

After suggesting a number of options to Capco it was decided that we would bring a Rio Olympics inspired Carnival to Hawker House, the Street Feast venue in Canada Water. Hawker House with its newly opened outside space, the Land of Bamboo, was the perfect back drop for creating a carnival theme. The venue is colourful and beautifully random, with graffiti designed walls, brightly painted oil drums, strings of coloured lights and neon galore. Nothing looks out of place in the venue, so adding extra entertainment and production was easy. To bring the Olympic theme to life and to incorporate the clients requested competitive aspect, large inflatable basketball and penalty shootout games brought some excitement to outside, along with Sumo wrestling for some light hearted competition. Inside we created a pub Olympics with table tennis, Batak, beer pong and table football and brought in a Rio Olympics themed photo booth along with face painters. Having both inside and outside spaces plus a mezzanine level allowed us to create different zones of the party, so that there was something to appeal to everyone and plenty of party fun to go around. A focal point of the event was the Olympic podium bespoke stage set that created a central hub for speeches, entertainment and announcements. The host for the evening kept the party momentum up by encouraging attendance of games and spurring on the competitions. As a climax to all the activity, there was a final prize giving, before Steel Strum opened the dancefloor. The dynamic duo who give everyone’s favourites an electronic steel pan twist, got the party started with the carnival dancers leading guests onto the dancefloor. But really the key ingredient for the perfect recipe for a summer party, was the abundance of some of the best Street Food from around the world; from Smoke Stack with BBQ beef brisket, pulled pork and thick cut chips to Farang serving spice infused Thai street food classics with pimped up pomegranate salad and juicy chilli, lime and coconut chicken. With eight food stalls and six bars on offer, it was a real celebration of culinary delights.
