ComeOn! Company Away Weekend


ComeOn hold a Company Away Weekend biannually and with their last trip being held in Malta, where their head office is based, they were looking to go further afield to reflect the successful three years the company had had since then. The location needed to be no longer than a 6 hour flight from their 3 offices (Malta, London and Stockholm), be at least 25c and close to the sea. The trip brings together 225 staff from across the offices and also the recently merged company Cherry. During the 3 day trip the chosen venue would host a company conference, 3 gala dinners and various activities that the whole company could take part in together. Also during this time there had to be an office room available for the attendees to work from and meet in for private and confidential meetings and also run a 24 hour fully operational office, with strong and secure WIFI.


With flight time being a main concern we started with a shortlist of the most fitting sea front European resorts for this active group before finally deciding on Rocco Forte – Vedura Golf and Spa resort in Sicily. The Vedura was perfect for this event as not only does it have a dedicated events space – perfect for the conference and work space; but it also has plentiful outdoor space for large groups to enjoy alfresco dining and activities. With most guests arriving on the Thursday evening before events kicked off, the group enjoyed a relaxed buffet dinner before heading to bed ready for the first days itinerary . The first day began with a company kick off in the resort’s ballroom with tea breaks taking place outside in the sunshine. After a light lunch all attendees headed down to the beach to start their first activity – Build a Boat - which got everyone working together in 30 groups of 10 to build the worlds greatest cardboard boat! Dinner Friday night was an elegant affair, with guests being welcomed by champagne in the Vedura’s outdoor amphitheatre and then walked walk through to reveal a gala dinner set up on the resorts jaw dropping Olive Grove. After dinner, attendees danced the night away with a DJ in the Olive Groves adjacent event space. The second day was kicked straight off with a group cooking activity where groups were again broken down in 10’s and worked their way around the room to learn some Sicilian culinary skills whilst encouraging a team mentality by working in groups. Lunch was again served in the form of an alfresco buffet which attendees could help themselves to before enjoying some free time to explore the resort as they pleased. The Saturday dinner was served on the seafront in the form of a beach BBQ whilst the sun set in the horizon – the perfect location to end a successful company away day. For those that still had some energy a Farewell party took place in one of the resorts event spaces before a staggered departure the following morning.
