This was a launch of a new event onto the market and a first awards event for our client. Being the first ever ‘Fintech Innovation Awards’ they wanted to make a big impact amongst their industry circle. Seven Events were brought on board to partner with Contentive to produce the Awards from the venue find and event production, through to pre event logistics and onsite management on the night.
Being a commercial awards event we really instilled the importance of the venue as a pull for ticket sales and attendance to our client and made sure to make the final selection based on location and suitability to the theme. The Brewery was the final chosen venue, offering the client a great location with a quirky feeling perfect for the theme of innovation. The Brewery also gave the client a wealth of sponsorship opportunities to allow them to maximise sponsorship revenue, a key element in commercial ticketed events. Once the venue was selected we assisted the client in all areas, from guidance on ticket pricing and sponsorship packages to branding and production. A bespoke set was built for the event, being the focal point of the awards. The set was clean, white and modular with a central screen and branded side panels. This was raised up on a white carpeted stage and we created a bespoke white lectern to keep the look consistent. To create the wow factor we added a gold glitter affect to the awards logo and around the screen and created a bespoke gobo light with the crest of the awards logo. The gobo lights were programmed to move in time with the music and pace of the awards ceremony, building drama and excitement when the winners came to collect their awards. In addition to the set production we also worked with Contentive’s creative team to create continuity throughout all branding, designing the same clean white background for hanging banners, stair facias and bar vinyl’s. We also took the theme through to table centres adding branded wraps to LED centrepieces to allow individual branding of the VIP tables. Once we had the look right we turned our attention to the entertainment and organised the Urban Soul Orchestra to play during the reception and Alan Dedicoat the ‘Voice of the Balls’ to be the voice of God. Speakers are always a crucial element of a successful event and we advised on the importance of a strong host to carry the award program. Julia Streets, a big name within in the industry hosted the event with great class and with a comedic background also interjected the all-important humour. Speakers also included Dan Cobley, formerly of Google and Sir Clive Woodward who both brought an interesting dimension and excitement to the awards format. With all the production and entertainment in place our final hurdle was to work with the client on the format and script of the awards, advising on timings and logistics. On the awards night we ran the event from set up to breakdown with a full specialised AV team to run the awards. Event managers ran the logistics and timings of the event with hostesses to welcome guests and assist with handing out awards. Guests were welcomed with a champagne reception and canapés, before being invited to their seats to start the awards proceedings. As suggested by Seven Events the awards were split between a three course meal, to keep up the momentum and interest level throughout. The evening concluded with an after dinner bar and DJ playing so the guests could carry on the party and the lucky winners could celebrate. The first ever FinTech Innovation Awards was a total sell out, and has received high praise from event attendees and a special mention from Dan Cobley, former UK boss of Google, who said it was the best awards event he had EVER attended. Of the back of this success we are already in plans with the client for 2016 with the intention to double the guest list and make the event bigger and better still.
